Concert - An Evening with Mozart, Ravel and others
Noted bass-baritone Ian Pomerantz and pianist Eric Mazonson, music director of Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church in Natick will present a recital at Fisk on Saturday evening, November 17, at 7:00 PM.
Mr. Pomerantz performs a wide range of vocal music from troubadour song to German Lieder and operatic repertoire. He also is an accomplished lutenist and guitarist. He recently performed Die Schöne Müllerin in its entirety at New York's Steinway Hall. As a member of the award-winning ensemble Voice of the Turtle, Ian is a specialist in the interpretation of Sephardic music. He is currently a faculty member of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland.
Mr. Mazonson maintains an active career as a professional accompanist and teacher. He has performed as soloist with a number of orchestras, most recently performing Mendelssohn’s Second Piano Concerto with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Community Orchestra. He can be heard accompanying turn-of-the-twentieth-century Italian art song on the CD I Riflessi del Sole. In addition to being a staff member at Fisk, he is currently a faculty member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School and Moses Brown School in Providence.
Mr. Pomerantz and Mr. Mazonson will be performing music of Mozart, Schumann, Ravel and Ibert, in addition to a set of rarely-heard Yiddish art songs.
