We WELCOME All
Fisk United Methodist Church is a loving community of believers and servants with open hearts. We extend our welcome to all people, celebrating differences in age, economic reality, nationality, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, abilities, and limitations.
- We invite all to find a spiritual home with us and to share in the fellowship, worship, sacraments, ministry, responsibilities, and blessings of participation in our congregation.
- We affirm the gifts and graces of all persons.
- We are committed to be a fellowship in which all persons feel a part of our family.
- And, we invite you to work for justice with us.
Statement from Pastor Alecia - APRIL 2019
As we come to the end of the Lenten Season, and approach Resurrection Sunday, know that the Christian journey is challenging but with renewed hope and continuous trust in God, we can affirm who we are. We are Christ’s resurrected people. Yes, “WE ARE FISK”
At Fisk, we are a diverse, intergenerational, and inclusive group of faithful servants who truly love God and all our neighbors. We stand in solidarity with all our brothers and sisters. But today, we stand with, and raise our voices for the immigrants, Muslims, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
In spite of all the chaos, conflicts and confusions, Fisk UMC has a commitment to follow Jesus Christ; to love, serve and welcome all persons in spite of who they are, where they have been and what they have done. Therefore, we will continue to invite, welcome, accept and nurture in a safe space with peace, equality and justice for all persons while Christ does transformations. And while faith in God and prayers are master keys, we will continue to think, reflect on, use words and act in ways that “Do no harm.”
The challenging question is, Can we walk together as resurrected people, live worthy lives and see all persons as made in God’s image?
I know we can and I believe in all that God can do and give to make this happen. Keep Living.
